Here is a super song by Manna Dey –
Hasne ki chaah ne itna mujhe rulaaya hai
Koi hamdard nahi dard mera saaya hai
Dil to uljhaa hi raha zindgee kee baaton mein
Saanse jaltee hai kabhee kabhee raaton mein
Kisee kee aahaten ye kaun muskuraaya hai
Koi hamdard nahi dard mera saaya hai
Sapne chalet hi rahe rooz nayi raahon se
Koyi phislaa hai abhi abhi baahon mein
Kisi kee aah par taaron ko pyaar aaya hai
Koi hamdard nahi dard mera saaya hai
There is another song i love… especially lyrics wise…each line…each and every line is super…and Kishorji has sung it sooooooooo sweetly…
Pyaar diwaanaa hotaa hai, mastaanaa hotaa hain
Har khushee se, har gam se, begaanaa hotaa hain
Shamaa kahe parawaane se, pare chalaa jaa
Meree tarah jal jaayegaa, yahaa naheen aa
Wo naheen sunataa, us ko jal jaanaa hotaa hain
Rahe koee sau paradon me, chupe sharam se
Nazar ajee laakh churaye, koee sanam se
Aa hee jaataa hain jis pe, dil aanaa hotaa hain
Suno kisee shaayar ne ye, kahaa bahot khub
Manaa kare duniyaan lekin mere mehaboob
Wo chhalak jaataa hai, jo paimaanaa hotaa hain
Akele hai chale aao jahaa ho
Kaha aawaaz de tumko kaha ho
Tumhe ham dhoondhte hai
Gam ay dil dhoondhta hai
Na ab manzil hai koi
Na koi raasta hai
Ye tanhaai ka aalam
Aur is par aapka gam
Na jeete hai na marte
Batao kya kare ham
And thanks Abdulji, for the missing word from ‘Suno sajna..’

Oh yes…ever since school days i’v been a fan of ‘Akhiyo ke jharoko se meine dekha jo saawre’. It has got a strange melancholy touch. I guess that is what makes it so sweet. And the lyrics are great too…simple but good.
Akhiyo ke jharokon se Maine dekha jo saanwre, Tum door nazar aaye Badi door nazar aaye
Oh yes…but then that was a long time ago….. Now the competitions amongst kids are sooooo tough! Ther are so may talented children…Now i go for judging once in a while! God! Its a tough job!
New job is hectic…too tough to handle….(kabhi kabhi lagta hai ki mere bas ka kaam nahi hai) but still doing ok.
Chuttiya kaise bita rahi ho? Having fun?
Jab chali thandee hawa jab uthee kaalee ghata mujhko ay jaane wafa tum yaad aayee….
How about these songs-
‘Naa jiya laage na…tere bina piya kahi jiyaa lage naa…’
‘Naam gum jaaye gaaa…chehra ye badal jaayega..meri aawaaz hi pehechaan hai…gar yaad rahe’
‘Akhiyo ke jharoko se…meine dekha jo saanwre’ (not semi classical jus ordinary melody, but super)
‘Mere naina saawan bhado phir bhi mera man pyaasa’
Tell me Abdoolji, do u follow Hindi well enough to enjoy the lyrics too?
How about that song from Guddi – ‘Bole re papee hara…’
Then there is this song…dont know from which film…its by Lataji –
Suno sajna… papeehe ne…kahaa sabse… pukaar ke..
Sambhal jaao…chaman walo…ke aaaye din bahaaaar ke..
Saawan ke mast jhoole…yahi geet ga rahee hai
Ghadiya piya milan ki nazdeek aa rahee hai
Nazdeek aa rahi hai
Hawao ne jo chede hai fasaane hai wo pyaar ke
Sambhal jaao chaman walo ki aaye din bahaaar ke
(Suno sajna…suno sajna)
Dekho na aise dekho..marzhi hai kya tumhaari
Bechain kar na dena..tumko kasam hamaari tumko kasam hamaari
Hami dushman na ban jaaye kahee apne _______ ke (i dont know that one word).
Oh its a super song! Then ther is ‘O sajna…barkha bahaar aayi…ras ki phuhaaar layi akhiyo mein pyaar laayi, o… sajna’
Those are some of the semi classical that come to my mind right now…
Oh! ‘Laga chunri mein daag’ is a super song and one of my favourites too… Manna Dey saab is too good!
Yes. Actually the translation sounds funny…(no offence meant to the great person who took the effort to translate). It is just that most of the songs(lyrics) are super only in its original lang…translation makes them ( if not funny) loose their naturalness (swaabhavikta).
I sang this song for a competitions in school…LOL. The rule was that we shud sing either patriotic or devotional song…just becos this one had the word ‘girdhar’ i took it as a devotional song and sang it.
BTW Abdoolji, Im already in that thanking stage…Im thankful to Dad that he had pushed me in the right direction…otherwise i wudnt have reached wher i have today.
Im not a student, Abdoolji, Im working. I know u must be younger to me…my special respect (for suddenly adding a ‘ji’ to ur name) shows my deep respect to your knowledge of music.
L&LOL! Abdool ji! Which part of the world are u from!? Jus curious!
Im sure u r either joking or pulling my leg in asking about languages of South India….However, at least for the sake of those who dont know…lemme enlighten….
The main languages of South India are Kannad, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Yesudas is basically a malayali but he has sung in all the South Indian langs. There is another singer from South who has put in quite a few songs in Hindi-S P Balasubrahmanyam. His debut was ‘ek duje ke liye’ i think. His pronounciation is good…tho the tone/accent is slightly Tamilish. There is another lady from South who has perfect Hindi accent. Her name is Vani Jayaram (tho i dont know wher exactly from South she is). She sang the famous semi cla$sical number in ‘Guddi’…’Bole re papee hara papee hara’.
Bhupinder is not exactly from the North but from North East(Assam or Orissa). Oh I just love his way of singing…I love his nasal voice. Im a real great fan of his.
As for Yesudas….tho his accent may sound funny to Hindi speaking people, Malayalis are of the opinion that his accent is perfect. Whatever said and done, he has put up a real good effort to make it as perfect as he can. And i guess he has taken the pain to understand every word of what he sang so as to bring in the right emotions…’Zid na karo, ab to ruko…ye raat nahi aayegi’ is a good example for that.
These are my personal views/opinions, ok. And i wud love to know ur views, Abdoolji.

Madhuban mein radhika naache re girdhar ki muraliya baaje re
Pag mein ghoonghar baandh ke Ghunghta mukh par daalke
Nainan mein kajra lagaake re…madhuban mein
Dolat cham cham kaamini Chamkat jaise daamini
Chanchal pyaari chavi laage re….madhuban mein
Jaane kahaan meraa jigar gayaa ji
abhi abhi yahi thaa kidhar gayaa ji
kisi ki adaao pe mar gayaa ji
badi badi akhiyo se Dar gayaa ji
kahi maare dar ke chuhaa to nahi ho gayaa
kone kone dekhaa na jaane kaha kho gayaa
yaha use laae kaahe ko binaa kaam re
jaldi jaldi Dhundho ke hone lagi shaam re
sachchi sachchi kah do dikhaao nahi chaal re
tuune to nahi hai churaayaa meraa maal re
aise nahi chori khulegi takaraar se
chalo chalo thaane bataae jamaadaar se
koi ulfat ki nazar zaraa pher de
lele do chaar aane jigar meraa chhed de
baate hai nazar ki nazar se samajhaaungi
pahale pado paiyaan to phir batlaaungi
Here is a super cute song….
Tumne kisi ki jaan ko jaate hue dekha hai
Wo dekho mujhse roothkar meri jaan ja rahi hai
GREEN
