Hi…this is such a beautiful song by bhupen hazarika but i can only understand it in parts.can someone please translate this? Thanks a lot.

Hi…This is a great song…but even i do not understand parts of its lyrics…I will translate only the parts which i can…

basically the poet is addressing the river ganga (ganges)…and questions her as to why she flows through such troubled lands..its a metaphor about the problems facing our country..

(the first two lines are asamese/bengali i think…so i dont know what they mean but i think its the same as the hindi verses)

The first two lines are in A*S*S*amese since Bhupen Hazarika was from that state. Besides I know Bengali so I can tell it is not Bengali. From the words I picked out it seem to say the same as in Hindi. I am not sure how well I did but perhaps you will get the gist of the song.
