Teri galiyon main na rakhenge kadam aaj ke baad,
From today onwards, I will not step onto your roads (where you live)
tere milne ko na aayenge sanam aaj ke baad,
From today onwards, I will not come to meet you, beloved
teri galiyon main na rakhenge kadam aaj ke baad,
humko duniya main samjh na sanam aaj ke baad,
From today onwards, don't think of me as existing in this world, beloved (think of me as dead)
tu mera milna samjh lena ek sapna tha,
Think (samajh literally means understand) of us meeting as if it was a dream
tujhko ab mil hi gaya jo tera apna tha,
You have now found what is yours
humko duniya main samjh na sanam aaj ke baad.
Teri galiyon main na rakhenge kadam aaj ke baad,
tere milne ko na aayenge sanam aaj ke baad,
ghir ke aayengi ghataye phir se saawan ki,
the clouds of the monsoon will come falling down once again
tum to bahon main rahogi apne saajan ki..
You will stay in the arms of your beloved
gale hum gam ko lagayenge sanam aaj ke baad.
Beloved, from today onwards, I will embrace sorrow

Aal Izz Well
Jab life ho out of control
When life is out of control
Honthon ko kar ke gol
Make a circle of your lips
Honthon ki kar ke gol
Seeti bajaa ke bol
Whistle and say
Jab life ho out of control
Honthon ko kar ke gol
Honthon ki kar ke gol
Seeti bajaa ke bol
Aal Izzz Well
All is well
Murgi kya jaane aande ka kya hoga
How does the chicken know what's to happen to the egg
Aree life milegi ya tawee pefry hoga
Is it going to find life or will it be fried on a frying pan?
Koi na jaane apna future kya hoga
Nobody knows what our future is going to be
Honth ghuma
Turn (make a circle of) your lips
Seeti bajaa
Whistle
Seeti bajaa ke bol
Whistle and say
Bhaiyaa aal izz well
Brother, all is well
Aree bhaiyaa all izz well
Aree brother, all is well {I don't know how to explain the word “aree” It's not really a word, it's just an expression of… exasperation? :S}
Aree chachu aal izz well
Aree bhaiyaa all izz well
Confusuin hi confusion hai
There is (nothing but) confusion
Solution kuch pata nahin
But (we) don't know what the solution is
Solution jo mila to saala
When the solution is found, then saala (saala is a bad word)
Question kya tha pata nahin
we don't know what the question was
Dil jo tera baat baat pe Ghabraaye
When your heart gets scared at every word (every trivial matter)
Dil pe rakh ke haath usae tu fuslaa le
Put a hand on your heart and trap it (fool it)
Dil idiot hai pyaar se usko samjha le
The heart is an idiot, make it understand with love (explain to it nicely/lovingly)
Honth ghuma
Seeti bajaa
Seeti bajaa ke bol
Bhaiyaa aal izz well
Aree bhaiyaa all izz well
Aree chachu aal izz well
Uncle, all is well
Aree bhaiyaa all izz well
Scholarship ki pi gayaa daaru

Ghum to phir bhi mitaa nahin
But the sorrow still didn't erase
Agarbattiyan raakh ho gayi
The agarbattiyan (incense sticks) turned into ashes
God to phir bhi dikha nahi
But I still didn't get to see God
Bakra kya jaan uski jaan ka kya hoga
What does the goat (scapegoat) know what's going to happen to its life
Sekh ghusegi ya saala Keema hoga
Will sekh enter it or will it become a keema (I dunnoe what sekh is, but keema is a type of dish)
Koi na jaane apna future kya hoga
To Honth ghuma
Seeti bajaa
Seeti bajaa ke bol
Bhaiyaa aal izz well
Aree bhaiyaa all izz well

I don't know what some words mean, but I'll translate what I do know and hopefully someone else can fill in the missing words. I'll keep the words I don't understand in it's transliterated format. Sorry in advance..
Khushiyon ki lahrein gaayein
The waves of happiness sing
Dil ke taapo tak aayein
It comes to the taapo (?) of the heart
Doob jaane ki rut hai
It is the season of drowning
Aaja pyaar main ghuljaayein
Come, let's melt into love
Aaj na khud ko roko
Don't stop yourself today
Pyar main khud ko jhunko
Jhunk (?) yourself in love
Shikwan ke saare parde kheench do
Pull (away) all the drapes of complaints
Aasman pe chaana hai, gungunana hai
I want to hover over the sky, I want to hum
Ban ja badal, dil kehta hai
My heart says to become a cloud
Bheeg ja bheeg ja yaara
Friend, get wet, get wet
Barso barso yaaron barso re
Friend, shower/pour (down on the earth)
Ban ke pyaar yaaron barso re
Friends, become love and pour/shower (down)
Barso barso yaaron barso re
Ban ke pyaar yaaron barso re
Chehron pe dhoop malo
Rub sunshine on your faes
Saagaron pe jhoom chalo
Twirl on the oceans
Mausam ke cheenkey bikharne de
Let the screams of the weather scatter about (I know cheenkey means screams, but it doesn't make sense here, so I'm guessing maybe the word isn't spelled right…)
Saare nazaarey sanwarne do
Let all the sceneries become beautiful
Aasman pe
On the sky
Aasman pe chaana hai gungunana hai
Ban ja badal, dil kehta hai
Bheeg ja bheeg ja yaara
Barso barso yaaron barso re
Ban ke pyaar yaaron barso re
Barso barso yaaron barso re
Ban ke pyaar yaaron barso re
Laakh take da,
Thousands/hundred thousands (Don't know which exactly) of take (?)
Ishq hai yaaron
It is love, my friends (Maybe he's saying it is a love of thousands of years…?)
Ishq phawaare kare isharey
The love phawaare (?) makes sings/signals/hints
Ankhiyen wich sadak banale
Make a road in your eyes
Duniya teri mehma hai
The world is your guest
Tu dil ka mehal saja le
(so) make a palace of hearts
Duniya teri mehma hai
Aare itar phulel laga le
Set up phulel (?) over here
Duniya teri mehma hai
Yeh dil bada hai
This heart is big (magnanimous)
Nageenay jada veh
Toh jashn manaa mere dil mein
So make a celebration in my heart
Jaam uthae is mehfil main
Pick up the glass in this gathering (party)
Zakhm baant lo dard chaat lo
Share your wound, lick your pain (:/ That sounds weird… lol maybe that's not what he means by chaat…)
Gham ko peeslo, khushi chaat lo
Ground up sorrow, lick happiness (again, i'm so sorry that sounds so weird!)
Nafrat ki is zindagi main na koi jagah
There is no space in this world of hatred
Khushiyon ki lahrein gaayein
Dil ke taapo tak aayein
Doob jaane ki rut hai
Aaja pyaar main ghuljaayein
Aaj na khud ko roko
Pyar main khud ko jhunko
Shikwan ke saare parde kheench do
Aasman pe chaana hai, gungunana hai
Ban ja badal, dil kehta hai
Bheeg ja bheeg ja yaara
Barso barso yaaron barso re
Ban ke pyaar yaaron barso re
Barso barso yaaron barso re
Ban ke pyaar yaaron barso re
Ohhoo…
Ishq waale khet main chal
<i
I don't mind doing the translations, but I think you're not supposed to have more than one song per thread (I THINK), so just to stay on the safe side, if you can just make a thread for each of the songs and copy and paste the lyrics, then that would be great. 🙂
You're welcome! And thank you! 🙂 But, really, I love translating, so it's really no big deal. 🙂
By the way, I was listening to the song today, and I realized the lyrics to one part was wrong, so I'm gonna go back to fix that. It's the following line:
Tere liya roz aus teharti hai
It The morning dew waits for you every day
If I'm remembering correctly, aus means the morning dew…
I'll give this a try, but I have NO idea what that first line is supposed to mean. I feel that sometimes I'm a bit dense when it comes to poetry. I have my interpretations and I analyze everything in my own way, but I do realize that I might be wrong sometimes. And I have trouble getting everything when it comes to ghazals, so I'll try and just translate the words instead of trying to give an analysis… I hope it helps though. 🙂
Deewaron se milkar rona achcha lagta hai
I like meeting/uniting with the walls and crying (Yeah, I have no idea.)
Hum bhi paagal ho jayenge, aisa lagta hai
It seems like I am also going to go mad
Deewaron se milkar rona achcha lagta hai
Hum bhi paagal ho jayenge, aisa lagta hai
Deewaron se
Duniya bhar ki yaaden humse milne aati hain
An entire world's worth of memories comes to meet me
Duniya bhar ki yaaden humse milne aati hain
Shaam dhale is soone ghar mein mela lagta hai
When the night sets in this empty house, it seems like a carnival
Shaam dhale is soone ghar mein mela lagta hai
Hum bhi paagal ho jayenge, aisa lagta hai
Deewaron se
Kitne dinon ke pyase honge yaaron socho to
Friends, imagine how many days thirsty they must be
Kitne dinon ke pyase honge yaaron socho to
Shabnam ka katra bhi jinko dariya lagta hai
to whom a dew drop seems like an ocean (That line actually sounded beautiful in Urdu, but I couldn't translate it any better. 🙁
Shabnam ka katra bhi jinko dariya lagta hai
Hum bhi paagal ho jayenge, aisa lagta hai
Deewaron se
Kisko Qaiser pathar maroon kaun paraya hai
Who should I hit with stones, who is a stranger? (Sorry, I don't know what qaiser is)
Kisko Qaiser pathar maroon kaun paraya hai
Sheesh-mahal mein ek ek chehra apna lagta hai
In the palace of mirrors, every single face seems my own (as in family/friends – not as in my own face)
Sheesh-mahal mein ek ek chehra apna lagta hai
Hum bhi paagal ho jayenge, aisa lagta hai
Deewaron se milkar rona achcha lagta hai
Hum bhi paagal ho jayenge, aisa lagta hai
Deewaron se
This song is sung soooo beautifully! I love this song! I'll be happy to translate it! 😀 But it sounds very confusing in english and I don't know how to fix it. So sorry in advance. 🙁
Dabi dabi saanson mein suna tha maine
I had heard in hidden/suppressed breaths
Bole bina mera naam aaya
Without speaking, my name came up
Palkein jhuki aur uthne lagi toh
When (her) lashes lowered and began to rise
Haule se uska salaam aaya
Her greeting came slowly (Salaam is an Arabic word that is derived from it's root word, meaning peace. Salaam (Assalaamu Alaykum – May peace be upon you) is used by Muslims to greet one another.)
Dabi dabi saanson mein suna tha maine
I had heard in hidden/suppressed breaths
Bole bina mera naam aaya
Without speaking, my name came up
Palkein jhuki aur uthne lagi toh
When (her) lashes lowered and began to rise
Haule se uska salaam aaya
Her greeting came slowly
Jab bole woh, jab bole
When he speaks, he speaks (She's just repeating it)
Uski aankh mein rab bole
God speaks in/through her eye
Jab bole woh, jab bole
Uski aankh mein rab bole
Paas paas hi rehna tum
Stay close, close (to me)
Aankh aankh mein kehna tum
Say eye into eye (Let the eyes speak to each other)
Dekha tumhe to aaram aaya
When I saw you, rest/peace came (He was relieved to see her)
Dabi dabi saanson mein suna tha maine
Bole bina mera naam aaya
Palkein jhuki aur uthne lagi toh
Haule se uska salaam aaya
Roz hi dil ki aag utha kar
(I) have to pick up the fire of my heart every day
Haath pe le kar chalna hai
(and) walk with it in my hands (I think he's just speaking about the hardships he has to face daily)
Tere bina bina tere boondh boondh
Without you, every drop (of me)
Ab raat raat bhar jalna hai
has to now burn all night long (Every part of me burns without you at night)
Tum mile na mile, ye haseen silsile
Whether I meet you or not, these beautiful chains
Waqt ke saqt hai ab ye katt the nahi
of time are hard, now they (just) don't go by
Haan tere bina saans bhi chalti hai
Yes, without you (my) breath comes (I can still breathe without you)
Tere bina dil bhi dhadakta hai
Without you, the heart (still) beats
Yaad nahi tha yaad aaya
I didn't remember, (now) I have remembered (Meaning, she had forgotten that she could still breathe without him, her heat could still beat without him, but now she has remembered.) <spa
I'll give it a try. By the way, this song is based on two people who love
each other through letters. They have never met
each other, but fell in love by writing letters to each other. So keep that
in mind while reading the translation.
Mere Mehboob
My beloved
Mere Is Dil Ne
This heart of mine
Raat Ko Din
From night to morning
Subha Ko Shaam Likha
From morning to evening, it (my heart) wrote (letters to you)
Itna Baichain Kar Diya Tumne
You have made me so restless (that)
Mane Ye Khat Tumhare Naam Likha
I have written this letter (addressed) to your name
Pehli Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai
I have loved for the very first time
Pehli Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai
Kuch Na Samajh Mein Aaye Main Kya Karoon
I don't understand anything, what should I do
Ishq Ne Meri Aisi Haalat Ki Hai
Love has brought me to this state (of mind)
Ishq Ne Meri Aisi Haalat Ki Hai
Kuch Na Samajh Mein Aaye Main Kya Karoon
(that) I don't understand anything, what should I do
Pehli Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai
Kuch Na Samajh Mein Aaye Main Kya Karoon
Ishq Ne Meri Aisi Haalat Ki Hai
Kuch Na Samajh Mein Aaye Main Kya Karoon
Pehli Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai
Kuch Na Samajh Mein Aaye Main Kya Karoon...
Mera Haal Bura Hai Lekin
I am in a bad state (of mind) but,
Tum Kaisi Ho Likhna
write how you are (in the letter)
Mera Chodo Jaan
Beloved (Jaan literally means life), forget about me
Apna Khayal Tum Rakhna
(just) take care of yourself (meaning don't worry about me,
take care of yourself)
Kore Kagaz Pe Maine
On a white paper, I
Saara Armaan Nikala
let out all of my wishes
Mere Is Dil Mein Jo Kuch Tha
Whatever was in this heart of mine,
Khat Mein Sabh Likh Dalaa
I wrote it all down in the letter
Hey Hey Hey Ho Ho Ho
Pehli Pehli Baar Shararat Ki Hai
I have done mischief for the first time
Pehli Pehli Baar Shararat Ki Hai
Kuch Na Samajh Mein Aaye Main Kya Karoon
Pehli Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai
Kuch Na Samajh Mein Aaye Main Kya Karoon...
Kash Mera Dil Bhi
I wish my heart, too
Kagaz Ka Tukda Hota
was a piece of paper
Raat Ko Teri Baahon Mein
At night, in your arms
Takiye Ke Neeche Sota
It would sleep under the pillow
Ho Keral Mein Garmi Hai
It is hot in Keral (I guess Keral is a place in India)
Nainital Se Sardi Bhejo
Send the cold (weather) from Nanital (again, a place in India)
Jo Raahat Paunchaaye
Something that will bring me peace
Aisa Kuch Bedardi Bhejo
Send me something cruel like that (I think bedardi would literally
mean without pain, but I think it means cruel overall.)
Bin Teri Yaadon Ke
Without your memories
Ek Pal Jeena Hai Mushkil
It is difficult to live even for a moment
Kaise Likh Doon Tujhko <br
*MELTS* I AM IN LOVE WITH ATIF AND HIS VOICE! His voice has the power to make me cry… I've been wanting to translate his songs just because he sings them! So it'll be my pleasure to translate this. It's a beautiful song.
Kaise batayein
How should I tell (you)
Kyun tujhko chahe
Why I love you?
Yaara batha na paayein
Beloved, I am unable to tell (you)
Baatein dil o ki Dekho jo baki
Look, all of the remaining (unsaid) words of the heart
Aake tujhe samjhaein
(my) eyes will explain to you
Tu jaane na aaaa..
(But) you don't know… (I think what he's trying to say is that she still doesn't know he's trying to tell her he loves her through his eyes, since he can't express himself through words)
Tu jaane na
Tu jaane na aaaa..
Tu jaane na
Hmm milke bhi, hum na mile Tumse na jaane kyun,
(Even though) I met you, I don't know why I didn't meet you. (He's saying that even though they met, he wonders why they didn't become one.)
milo ke Hai phasle tumse na jaane kyun
I don't know why the distance between us is miles long
Anjaane, hai silsile Tum se na jaane kyun,
I don't know why the stories (that connect me to you) are strange
sapne hai Palko tale tum se na jaane kyunnnnnn…
I don't know why dreams are under my eyelashes because of you… (“under my eyelashes” means that the dreams are always there, waiting to burst out… at the thought of her, I guess.)
Kaise batayein
Kyun tujhko chahe
Yaara batha na paayein
(aaa…aaa…(indicine.com))
Baatein dil o ki
Dekho jo baki
Aake tujhe samjhaein
Tu jaane na aaaa..
Tu jaane na
Tu jaane na aaaa..
Tu jaane na
Aaaa aaaaa aaa
Nigahon mein dehko Meri jo hai bas gaya aa
Look, the person who is embedded in my eyes
Woh hai milta tumse hubahoo
she looks exactly like you
Ooohhooo..
Jaane teri aankhein thi, ya baatein thi vajah…
I wonder if it was your eyes, or if your conversations were the reason
Huwe tum jo dil ki aarzoo
That you became my heart's wish
Tum paas ho ke bhi
Even though you are near to me
Tum aas ho ke bhi
Even though you are my hope
Ehsaas ho ke bhi
Even though you are a feeling
Apne nahin
You aren't mine…
aise hai Hum ko gile Tumse na jaane kyun,
I don't know why I have complaints like these against you.
milo ke Hai phasle tumse na jaane kyun ooonnn….
I don't know why the distance between us is miles long
Tu jaane na aaaa..
You don't know…
Tu jaane na
Tu jaane na aaaa..
Tu jaane na
Ooo jaane na jaane na jaane na
Aaaaaaa aaa… tu jaane na
Khayalon mein lakhon baatein, Yun toh keh gayaaaa..
I said a million things like this in my imagination
Bola kuch na tere saamne
(But) I didn't say anything in front o you
Oooo… huye na begaane bhi Tum hoke aur ke
Even though you became someone else's, you didn't become a stranger to me
Dekho tum na mere hi bane
(But) look, you didn't even become mine.
Aafsos hota hai, dil bhi yeh rotha hai
I feel regret, this heart also cries
Sapne sanjotha hai, pagla hua
It (my heart) weaves drea
Ik bewafa ke jakhmo par, marham lagane hum gaye,
I went to put balm on an unfaithful person's wounds
Ik bewafa ke jakhmo par, marham lagane hum gaye,
Marham ki kasam,
I swear by the balm,
marham na laga,
The balm wasn't applied
marham ki jagah, mar hum gaye…..
In place of the balm, I died. (There is a pun here that you'll only get if you know the language. Marham (balm) starts with “Mar” which means die. So the lyricist divided “marham” into “mar” and “ham” which then means “I died” Yeah, you kind of have to know the language for it to make sense. It's kind of funny. hehe. )
ja bewafa ja humein pyar nahi karna,
Go unfaithful one, I do not want to love
ja bewafa ja humein pyar nahi karna,
tanha hi jee lenge hum jab hai tanha marna,
Since I have to die alone, I'm going to live alone. (I might as well live alone)
ja bewafa ja humein pyar nahi karna,
ja bewafa ja humein pyar nahi karna…..
Dil ne teri pooja ki dil ne tujhko rab mana,
My heart worshipped you, my heart thought of you as god.
Dil ki yeh nadani thi jo dillagi ko na jaana…
It was the innocence of this heart that it didn't understand love (One of the members of the forum, Madhu ji, actually explained to me the difference of dil chi lag and dillagi, but I forgot… sorry.)
na to majboori hai,
It is neither a compulsion
na to majboori hai koi,
na koi lachari hai,
Nor is it helplessness
na to majboori hai koi,
na koi lachari hai,
Bewafai teri Paidaishi,beemari hai…..
Being unfaithful is an illness since birth for you.
Dil ne teri pooja ki dil ne tujhko rab mana,
Dil ki yeh nadani thi jo dillagi ko na jaana…
jab chot lagi to yeh jaana
When I got wounded, I knew that
Jhootha tha har afsana….
every story was false…
ja bewafa ja humein pyar nahi karna,
ja bewafa ja humein pyar nahi karna…..
Na kisi ka ab aankhen dekhengi koi sapna,
Nobody's eyes will ever see a dream
na kisi harjai ko hum kahenge ab apna
Nor will I call some harjai my own (I googled the meaning of harjai and found “Stone hearted” and “someone that can't be trusted” I would go with the stone hearted translation)
Ye dekhna hai,
Now we have to see
Ye dekhna hai,
kahani kahan badalti hai,
Where the story changes
Ye dekhna haikahani kahan badalti hai,
abhi talak to wohi bewafai karta hai
So far he/she is being unfaithful
Na kisi ka ab aankhen dekhengi koi sapna,
na kisi harjai ko hum kahenge ab apna..
kya apna kya begaana,
What's mine and what isn't (Who is mine and who isn't)
sab ko humne pehchana,
I have recognized everyone (I know who is mine (who will stay faithful to me) and who is a stranger (who will betray me)
ja bewafa ja humein pyar nahi karna,
ja bewafa ja humein pyar nahi karna,
tanha hi jee lenge hum jab hai tanha marna,
</spa
I love this song!
I'll try to translate, but It's not going to be too great because this song has a lot references to things the singers are reminiscing about, and so it sounds really weird in english. But it makes sense in urdu/hindi. Basically, this song is being sung by different soldiers who are receiving letters from their loved ones (mother/friends/wife/fiance). And they sing about how their wife or mother sends them letters and asks them when they will be coming home. Along with people, they also sing about how their village, or the streets in the village, also ask them when they will come home. Basically, they sing about all of the things they miss about home. Kind of like the Pilssbury commercial, “Home is calling.” lol Anyway, If something doesn't make sense, just ask and I'll try to explain it better if I can…
Ohh Ohh Ohh Ohhhh …
Sandese aate hai.n
Letters come
Hume tadpate hai.n
They (the letters) torture me
Vo chitti aati hai.n
That letter comes
Vo pooche jaati hai.n
It (the letter) continues to ask
Ke ghar kab aao ge — (2)
When are you going to come home?
Likho kab aao ge
Write (in your letter to me) when you are going to come
Ki tum bin yeh ghar suna suna hai
Because without you, this house is empty, empty
Sandese aate hai.n
Hume tadpate hai.n
Vo chitti aati hai.n
Vo pooche jaati hai.n
Ke ghar kab aao ge — (2)
Likho kab aao ge
Ki tum bin yeh ghar suna suna hai
Kisi dilwali ne, kisi matwali ne
Some bighearted, mischievous girl… (Dilwali – girl with a heart-Bighearted, compassionate. Matwali- don't know what this means exactly but I'm guessing it has something to do with mischief…)
Hume khat likkha hai
has written me a letter
Ke humse pucha hai
and has asked me
Kisi ki saaso.n ne, kisi ki dhadkan ne
Someone's breaths, someone's heartbeat
Kisi ki chudi ne, kisi ke kangan ne
Someone's bracelet, someone's bangle
Kisi ke cajre ne, kisi ke gajre ne
Someone's kohl (eye liner), someone's gajra (see picture at end)
Mahekti subhoh ne, machalti shaamo.n ne
The scented mornings, the riotous evenings
Akeli raato.n ne, adhuri baato.n ne
The lonely nights, the incomplete conversations
Tarasti baaho.n ne
The yearning arms
Aur pucha hai tarasi nighaho.n ne
And the yearning gaze has asked
Ke ghar kab aao ge — (2)
When are you coming home?
Likho kab aao ge
Ki tum bin yeh dil suna suna hai
Because without you, this heart is empty, empty
Sandese aate hai.n
Hume tadpate hai.n
Vo chitti aati hai.n
Vo pooche jaati hai.n
Ke ghar kab aao ge — (2)
Likho kab aao ge
Ki tum bin yeh ghar suna suna hai
Mahobbat walo.n, ne hamare yaaro.n ne
The lovers, our friends
Hume yeh likha hai, ke humse poocha hai
Have written this to us, and have asked us
Hamare gaao.n ne, aam ki chaao.n ne
Our villages, the shades of the mango (tree)
Purane pipple ne, baraste baadal ne
The old peepal (tree), the showering clouds</stron
From Mohabbatein… One of my favorite dialogues. 🙂
Love is like life; every turn isn't easy (simple), (and) happiness isn't found at every turn… But when we don't leave (give up on) life, then why leave (give up on) love?
I'll try to translate. :)
@ anyone: Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. :)
Dil Se Tujhko Bedili Hai
My heart is heartless (:/ I'm not sure what bedili is... but translated it as heartless) towards you
Mujhko Hai Dil Ka Guroor
I have the pride of the heart (I think it just means "I have a heart full of pride")
Tu Yeh Maane Ya Na Maane
Whether you agree with this or not
Log Maanenge Zaroor
People will definitely agree
Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai
Is this my madness
Ya Mohabbat Ka Suroor
or the suroor of love? (Don't know what suroor is, but I'm guessing suroor=high/intoxication)
Tu Na Pehchaane To Hai Yeh
(since) you do not recognize this, then it is
Teri Nazron Ka Kusoor
the fault of your eyes
Yeh Mera Deewanapan ...
This madness of mine...
Dil Ko Teri Hi Tamanna
My heart desires you
Dil Ko Hai Tujhse Hi Pyar
My heart loves you
Chaahe Tu Aaye Na Aaye
Whether you come or not
Hum Karenge Intezaar
I'm going to wait (anyway)
Yeh Mera Deewanapan...
This madness of mine...
Aise Veerane Mein Ek Din
In this emptiness, one day
Ghut Ke Mar Jayenge Hum
I will suffocate and die
Jitna Ji Chaahe Pukaro
You can call out as much as your heart desires
Phir Nahin Aayenge Hum
But I won't come then...
Yeh Mera Deewanapan...
This madness of mine
I haven't heard the song, so I'll translate based on the lyrics you've provided. :)
betaab dil kee, tamannaa yahee hain
This is the desire of [my] impatient heart
tumhe chaahenge, tumhe poojenge
I will love you, worship you.
tumhe apanaa khudaa banaayenge
I will make you my god
sune sune khwaabo mein, jab tak tum naa aaye the
Since you had not came into my empty dreams
khushiyaan thee sab aauron kee, gam bhee saare paraaye the
Happiness was everyone else's, even all of the sorrow was not mine {Before you, I had no happiness, didn't even have sorrow}
apane se bhee chhupaayee thee, dhadakan apane seene kee
I had kept hidden, even from myself, the heartbeats of (in) my chest
hum ko jeenaa padataa thaa, khwaayeesh kab thee jeene kee
I had to [was forced to] live, but when was there ever a wish to live?
ab jo aa ke tum ne, humei jeenaa seekhaa diyaa hain
Now that you have come and taught me how to live
chalo duniyaan nayee basaayenge
Come, I'll settle down into a new world
bheegee bheegee palakon par, sapane kitane sajaaye hain
I had decorated so many dreams upon my wet eyelashes
dil mein jitanaa andheraa thaa, utane ujaale aaye hain
As much darkness there was in my heart, [that same amount of] light has come [into my heart]
tum bhee hum ko jagaanaa naa ,baaho mein jo so jaaye
If I fall asleep in your arms, then even you should not wake me up
jaise khushaboo fulon me, tum mein yoo hee kho jaaye
The way there is fragrance in the flowers, I want to get lost in you in the same way
pal bhar kisee janam me, kabhee chhoote naa saath apanaa
May we never part for a moment in any birth (saath=being together choote = let go)
tumhe ayese gale lagaayenge
I will hug you like this.
waade bhee hai, kasmei bhee, beetaa wakt ishaaronkaa
There are promises of of the sign of the time gone by (waade & kasmei = promises)
kaise kaise aramaan hai, melaa jaise bahaaron kaa
There are so many desires, it's as if there is a carnival of springs
saaraa gulashan de daalaa, kaliyaa aaur khilaao naa
It has given me the entire garden, of flower buds... (Don't really get this part)
hasate hasate ro de hum itanaa bhee to hasaao naa
Make me laugh this much so that I may laugh while crying.
dil mein tum hee base ho, saaraa aanchal wo bhar chukaa hain
You are embedded in my heart, my whole aanchal is filled up (aanchal is the part of the scarf that you drape over your chest. )
kahaa itanee khushee chhupaayenge
Where will we hide this much happiness?
Where did you hear this song? Radio? TV? If TV, do you remember the actor/actress? Is it sung by a male or female? Would you have any idea if those words are in the chorus?
Welcome to the forum, I hope you benefit from this forum.
I knew shay meant everything, but I wasn't sure of the exact translation, so I googled it and found an interesting translation:
Shai – Its hindi word derived from Arabic Word – Shain , which means THING..(as in anything, everything..), in hindi it would be Cheez… (not cheese…LOL). Further Shaiyen (in arabic) mean Living thing, Anyway, Shai here means, PERSON.
Fasana – i dont know the origin but in Urdu and hindi its suppose to mean a Story, its a poetic way of describing the humdrum of life…. Zindagi ke fasane..
Coming to – Har Shai Phasana hai – That means Everyone is a story. It doesnt make much of a sense when you translate in english, but thats the way it is.
(Everyone has a story would be the best, but thats not the accurate translation…)
sansaar ki har shay ka itana hi fasaana hai
Everything in life has but this much story
ek dhundh se aana hai ek dhundh mein jaana hai
[We] come from one (the same) fog, we are going to go to one (the same) fog.
ye raah kahaan se hai ye raah kahaan tak hai
From where is this path (where does it begin), where does this path go (where does it end).
ye raaz koyi raahi samajha hai na jaana hai
No traveller has been able to understand this secret, nor know (this secret).
ek pal ki palak par hai thahari huyi ye duniya
This world has stopped on a moment's blink. (Palak=eyelash…)
ek pal ke jhapakane tak har khel suhaana hai
Every game is beautiful till a moment's blink. (Jhapakna=blink)
kya jaane koyi kis pal kis mod par kya bite
What (how) does anyone know what (they) will (have to) go through at which moment, which turn.
is raah mein ai raahi har mod bahaana hai
O traveller, there is an excuse at every turn on this path.
It's NOT an old song? Do you know how old it is, then? Or who the actor/actress is? Do you know if the words go in that exact order you remember it?

Is that it? I know it's old, but I thought maybe it's the one you're looking for?
