boo:Nosyira:I've read The Zahir too. It revolves around love, life, happiness, marriage. Very thought provoking.
It's about a husband searching for his wife, who has disappeared, in the world full of possibilities.
It leads him to discover nature of love, power of destiny, and what it means to follow his heart. You make me want to read the book, Nosyira… do you believe in destiny? I didn't bold destiny because I don't know what to make of it…
And what does The Zahir actually mean?
boo, and anybody who would be interested in reading the book, here's the meaning stated in it:
Zahir, in arabic, means visible, present, incapable of going unnoticed. It is someone or something which, once we have come into contact with, gradually occupies our every thought, until we can think of nothing else. This can be considered either a state of holiness or of madness.
I'm listening to this tamil song… Have been in my mind since the first time I heard it…
The movie scene is a very moving one… You could hear a cough in the middle of the song because a disabled girl is singing it…
I'm not pasting the lyrics since I can't understand them.
Even though I'm not able to understand its lyrics, the song itself (w/o seeing the picturization) is very moving…
Beautiful sig, Tayba.
Album Name: Teri Kasam
Song Name: Kasam
Singer: Adnan Sami
Teri aankhon mein dekh ke, teri baahon mein jhoom ke
Tere haathon ko choom ke, teri zulfon ko chhed ke
Tere roop ki, noor ki, hai kasam tu na ja
Oh meri jaan, oh, O meri jaan
Is raat ko thaam lo, saari ghadiyaan thod do na
Is chand ko bandh lo, chadhte sooraj ko rok lo
Is chandni raat ki, hai kasam tu na ja
O meri Jaan, oh, O meri jaan
O meri Jaan, oh, O meri jaan
Mere khwaabon ko thod ke, meri neendhon ko cheen ke tu
Tere dil ko ujaad ke, mere chain ko toot ke
Meri neendon ki, khwaabon ki, hai kasam tu na jaa
Oh meri jaan, oh, O meri jaan
Bas do ghadi ka sawaal hai, jo hua jaane bhi de
Deewano ke jaisa haal hai, mujh ko manaane bhi de
Apne bekaraar ko, thoda sathane bhi de
O bezubaan ehsaas ko, kya karu main bayaan
O meri jaan, oh, O meri jaan
Aansoon ki duaon main, apne sar ko jhuka ke main to
(In my tear-filled prayers, bowing my head,)
Dono hathon ko jod ke, tujhe maanga hai rab se
(I held my hands together, asking for you from God,)
Mere sajdon ki, duaon ki, hai kasam tu na ja
(Upon my prayers, promise that you won't leave,)
Oh, O meri jaan, oh, O meri jaan.. o...o...o
(My dear...)
Adnan Sami conveyed such emotions... Lovely...
It's from the film Anwar, Al… Titled Javeda Zindagi (Tose Naina Lage)…
Yes, you should listen to it, Al. It's beautiful. I love it… Here's the full lyrics.. (Thanks to Madhuri Dixit)
The other song is from Mann, Khushiyan aur Gham.
tose nainaa laage – 2
Your eyes touch me
tose nainaa laage piyaa savren nahi basamein ab ye jiyaa savren –2
Your eyes touch me, beloved, my heart is not in control
muhobbat to ek jaavedaa jindagi hai – 2
Love is an eternal life
tose nainaa laage mili roshani tose man jo laagaa mili jindagi –2
Your eyes touch me, I found light, if your heart touched me then I found life
muhobbat to ek jaavedaa jindagi hai – 2
Love is an eternal life
muhobbat ki hai daasataa jindagi muhobbat naa ho to kahaa jindagi-2
The story of love is life, where is life if there is no love
muhobbat to ek jaavedaa jindagi hai – 2
Love is an eternal life
tose nainaa laage
Your eyes touch me
shamaa ko pighalane kaa armaan kyun hai
Why is there a desire to burn the lamp
patangeko jalane kaa aramaan kyun hai
Why is there a desire to burn the moth
isi shauk kaa imtihaan jindagi hai – 2
For this pleasure, life is a test
muhobbat jise baksh de jindagaani
Whoever love pardons with life
nahi maut par khatm usaki kahaani
His story is not destroyed by death
kaise jiyaa jaaye – 3 ishq bin
How can one live…without love
nahi koi insaan muhobbat se khaali
There is no person empty with love
har ek ruh pyaasi har ek dil savaani

Yemenilicious:I just finished reading a book called “Tuesdays with Morrie” by Mitch Albom. it was recommended by a friend of mine. It's an easy read but has a great moral to it. I recommend that u read it as well.
Has anybody read Five People You Meet In Heaven or any other books by Mitch Albom? Would you recommend this author?
–FEMALE–
(Khushiyaan aur gham sehti hai
It bears happiness and sadness
Phir bhi yeh chup rehti hai
Still, it remains silent
Ab tak kisi ne na jaana
No one has yet learned
Zindagi kya kehti hai) – 2
What life is saying
Apni kabhi to kabhi ajnabi
Sometimes like your own, sometimes like a stranger
Aansu kabhi to kabhi hai hasi
Sometimes like tears, sometimes like laughter
Dariya kabhi to kabhi tishnagi lagti hai yeh to
Sometimes like a river, sometimes like thirst is how it seems
Khushiyaan aur gham sehti hai
It bears happiness and sadness
Phir bhi yeh chup rehti hai
Still, it remains silent
Ab tak kisi ne na jaana
No one has yet learned
Zindagi kya kehti hai
What life is saying
Khaamoshiyon ki dheemi sada hai
It is the soft sound of silence
Yeh zindagi to rab ki dua hai
This life is God's blessing
Chhooke kisi ne usko dekha kabhi na
No one has touched and seen it
Ehsaas ki hai khushboo, maheki hawa hai
It is the fragrance of experience, it is a scented wind
–MALE–
Khushiyaan aur gham sehti hai
It bears happiness and sadness
Phir bhi yeh chup rehti hai

What life is saying
–FEMALE–
Aa ha aa aa aa, mm hm mm mm mm
–MALE–
Mann se kaho tum, mann ki suno tum
Speak with your heart, listen to your heart
Mann meet koi mann ka chuno tum
Choose a soulmate from the heart
Kuch bhi kahegi duniya, duniya ki chhodo
The world may say anything, let go of the world's thought
Palkon mein sajke jhilmil sapne buno tum
Adorning them on your eyelashes, foster sparkling dreams
–FEMALE–
Khushiyaan aur gham sehti hai
It bears happiness and sadness
Phir bhi yeh chup rehti hai
Still, it remains silent
Ab tak kisi ne na jaana
No one has yet learned
Zindagi kya kehti hai

haniirani:Scar face:Okay, heres my suggestions:
- Search some lady called BANNERJI – mistress of spices, read the book …absolutely loved it…romantic, mystical, beautiful novel…didn’t get to watch the movie yet, hope it does justice….
Oh great! We have a common book there! Anyway, it's by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni.
Has anybody read anything by paulo coelho? I really enjoyed reading The Zahir.
And still have not gotten around to reading another by him, The Alchemist.
I've read Mistress of Spices twice, and won't mind reading it again!
Yes, Chitra beautifully blends together the chills of reality with rich imagination. I enjoyed it.
I've read The Zahir too. It revolves around love, life, happiness, marriage. Very thought provoking.
It's about a husband searching for his wife, who has disappeared, in the world full of possibilities.
It leads him to discover nature of love, power of destiny, and what it means to follow his heart.
What do you think of these books, haniirani?

Hi aliea, sorry for the late reply. Have been really busy! Anyway, glad I was able to help!
And maybe I should listen to the song too? I have not..
Oh yes, about the mis-spelling of Nosyira, it's ok.. Even others had trouble with it!
Anyway, it's pronounced as no-shi-ra, if it helps.
Hi, I found the following. Hope it is of help?
(Chandni raatein, chandni raatein) -2
Sab jag soye hum jagein
taaron se karain batain
ho.. (chandi ratain, chandi raatain)-2
Takte takte tooti jaaye aas
piya na aaye re takte takte
Sham savere dard anokhe uthe
jiya ghabraaye re sham savere

Pichhli raat main hum yeh soch ke
chupke chupke roye re pichhli raat main
Sukh ki neend main meet hamare
desh paraye soye re sukh ke neend main

Aaja balam aayi baharain
Baith ke tanhai main karlain
