Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
    His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it ***
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Sigh…! Senor what have you done to meeeee? In keeping with the Robert-Browning-ish smells drifting around on the forum (thanks to someone…!)… I was just reading this:

    The Laboratory by Robert Browning

    ANCIEN REGIME

    I

Now that I, tying thy glass mask tightly,
May gaze through these faint smokes curling whitely,
As thou pliest thy trade in this devil's-smithy—
Which is the poison to poison her, prithee?

    II

He is with her; and they know that I know
Where they are, what they do: they believe my tears flow
While they laugh, laugh at me, at me fled to the drear
Empty church, to pray God in, for them!—I am here.

    III

Grind away, moisten and mash up thy paste,
Pound at thy powder,—I am not in haste!
Better sit thus, and observe thy strange things,
Than go where men wait me and dance at the King's.

    IV

That in the mortar—you call it a gum?
Ah, the brave tree whence such gold oozings come!
And yonder soft phial, the exquisite blue,
Sure to taste sweetly,—is that poison too?

    V

Had I but all of them, thee and thy treasures,
What a wild crowd of invisible pleasures!
To carry pure death in an earring, a casket,
    A signet, a fan-mount, a filigree-basket!

    VI

Soon, at the King's, a mere lozenge to give,
And Pauline should have just thirty minutes to live!
But to light a pastille, and Elise, with her head,
And her ***, and her arms, and her hands, should drop dead!

    VII

Quick—is it finished? The colour's too grim!
Why not soft like the phial's, enticing and dim?
Let it brighten her drink, let her turn it and stir,
And try it and taste, ere she fix and prefer!

    VIII

What a drop! She's not little, no minion like me—
That's why she ensnared him: this never will free
The soul from those strong, great eyes,—say, “No!”
    To that pulse's magnificent come-and-go.

    IX

For only last night, as they whispered, I brought
My own eyes to bear on her so, that I thought
Could I keep them one-half minute fixed, she would fall,
Shrivelled; she fell not; yet this does it all!

    X

Not that I bid you spare her the pain!
    Let death be felt and the proof remain;
Brand, burn up, bite into its grace—
He is sure to remember her dying face!

    XI

Is it done? Take my mask off! Nay, be not morose,
It kills her, and this prevents seeing it close:
The delicate droplet, my whole fortune's fee—
If it hurts her, beside, can it ever hurt me?

    XII

Now, take all my jewels, gorge gold to your fill,
You may kiss me, old man, on my mouth if you will!
But brush this dust off me, lest horror it brings
Ere I know it—next moment I dance at the King's!

The misery of being in love is only equal to the misery of not being in love and vice versa. How strange life is? Perhaps we were meant to live for love. Perhaps we were meant to die for love. Live and die, we will. So love, we must.

Heavens.. there you go again. Reminding me of someone again.

Oh, by the way, the quoted sentence above… all I can muster is a weak, “I agree.”

Ali: LOL… I wish I could pack up and go away with him…

Ness: Big Smile No can do… he's as much mystery man to me as I am to you guys.. not a clue about his contact details. I suppose I should have asked.. but hmm.. the chances of me EVER seeing the guy again are nil. I write wonderfully? Confused

Senor: Don't wish for such things.. Stick out tongue If you're in my place right now, where you feel like you're that little rock in the stream, watching helplessly as water constantly flows past you to be replaced by new water, which is never there long.. you wouldn't be saying that, I bet.

Kavi: I am still trying to figure out if I liked his smile better or his eyes… lol. Never seen a Bollywood movie in his life, though.. *grumble grumble*

Kaate Nahi Katate Ye Din Ye Raat
Kehni Thi Tumse Jo Dil Ki Baat
Lo Aaj Main Kehta Hu I Love You

Koi Nahi Bas Tum Ho Saath
Kehni Thi Tumse Jo Dil Ki Baat
Lo Aaj Main Kehti Hu I Love You

    Kaisi Hava Hai
    Dhuli Dhuli
    Aaj Fiza Hain
    Khili Khili
    Saara Nazaara
    Naya Naya
    Dil Ne Pukaara
    Piya Piya
Tumne Jo Li Angdaai Hai Phir Baat Vahi Yaad Aayi Hai
Lo Aaj Main Kehta Hu I Love You

    Mahaka Mahaka
    Tera Badan
    Bahaka Bahaka
    Mera Ye Man
    Chhalaka Chhalaka
    Roop Tera
    Halka Halka
    Nasha Mera
Jab A Hi Gai Main Paas Tere Kah Doon Jo Dil Mein Hai Mere

I know! It's like she has a vendetta against hungry people. I don't get women sometimes. I have this colleague who constantly complains about how no one talks to her and no one asks her out and how lonely she is each weekend… Funny thing is, she is drop-dead gorgeous with desirable dimensions north and south of the erm equator, but it is not always that easy to approach a beautiful woman and say 'Hi' without feeling like your tongue and your tonsils are doing the Tango. Sheesh! Be merciful.

    Big Smile Crazy dude.

And yes – here is your chance for a snog under the stars, mister… aren'tcha going to try your flirting skills on her? Surprise

No, I haven't named him yet. I have bad news Alie. He has not been well lately and I brought him to the Vet. He has Heartworm. I was given the choice of either letting him live or have him euthanized. I love the stupid mongrel even though he destroyed a lot of my stuff. The Vet says he is going to suffer from heart failure if I do not have him euthanized.

I never intended to share this with anyone. But, thank you for bringing the dog up. Helps to talk about it.

    I'm sorry…

Now, before I get reported for posting irrelevant things on the wrong thread, here is a favorite song of mine:

Tous Les Visages de L'amour (She by Elvis Costello from Notting Hill OST)

Toi, sois mon espoir, sois mon destin
J'ai si peur de mes lendemains
Montre à mon âme sans secours
    Tous les visages de l'amour
Toi ! tous les visages de l'amour

wow… this song's in French, too? I am off to check it on youtube… Big Smile

Alors, parlez-vous un petit peu de Francais? J'ai recemment entendu une (?) chanson… qui s'appelle 'Je Te Retrouve Un Peu', de Tina Arena avec Jay… here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beMXJQotxyU

(In case you didn't understand the French, which was most probably rubbish, haha: So, do you speak a little bit of French? I have recently heard a song, which is called 'Je Te Retrouve Un Peu', by Tina Arena feat. Jay…)

PS: There is a translation for this song, which I did earlier on, somewhere in the forum… if you search for it if you need it, I am sure it will be there! I love this song…

    The English Version

She may be the face I can't forget
The trace of pleasure or regret
Maybe my treasure or the price I have to pay
She may be the song that summer sings
May be the chill that autumn brings
May be a hundred different things
Within the measure of a day

She may be the beauty or the beast
May be the famine or the feast
May turn each day into a Heaven or a Hell
She may be the mirror of my dreams
A smile reflected in a stream
She may not be what she may seem
    Inside her shell….

She, who always seems so happy in a crowd
Whose eyes can be so private and so proud
No one's allowed to see them when they cry
She maybe the love that cannot hope to last
May come to me from shadows in the past
That I remember 'till the day I die

She maybe the reason I survive
The why and wherefore I'm alive
The one I care for through the rough and ready years

Me, I'll take the laughter and her tears
And make them all my souvenirs
For where she goes I've got to be
The meaning of my life is
    She….She
    Oh, she….

    NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYYYY!!!!

I… well, you could well say, I worship this song! Stick out tongue

I love this song. I really do.

He says he looks in the mirror
    And he can't tell anymore
Who he really is and who they believe him to be
And he says he walks a thin line
Between what is and what could be
    And he's getting closer
    To something he can understand
Cause there's a crack in his plastic crown
And his throne of ice is melting
    He climbed his ladder
    There was nothing there
And now it's a long way down
    It's a long way down

On and on and on he goes dancing on the grave
Of what he thought was still alive
On and on and on he goes
Dancing in mansions made of twigs
    And castles made of sand
He says his head is filled with
    Cartoons and fairy tails
And he's trapped inside a dungeon of dolls
    With smiles on their faces
    He's built a pretty cage
His shows on a beautiful stage
    With candy coated prison bars
And chains that look like jewelry
Cause there's a crack in his plastic crown
And his throne of ice is melting
    He climbed his ladder
    There was nothing there
And now it's a long way down

On and on and on and on he goes on and on
On and on and on and on he goes on and on
    Cause he lives inside
Of fairy tails and castles now
    And there's room inside
    For false expectations and illusions
Cause there's a crack in his plastic crown
And his throne of ice is melting
    He climbed his ladder
    There was nothing there
And now it's a long way down
    It's a long way down

On and on and on and on he goes on and on
On and on and on and on he goes on and on
On and on and on and on he goes on and on

This has beautiful lyrics.. very nice. I am going to check the song out right now.
